I am writing on behalf of Durango Youth Soccer Association (DYSA), dba Durango Rapids Soccer Club (NMRDSC), and the 2025 soccer season.

DRSC is a non-profit organization currently with 335 members and 21 teams. DRSC is committed to educating people aged 8-18 about the importance of sportsmanship and fellowship while providing a high-quality soccer experience. The Durango Shootout Soccer Tournament (founded in 1995) is our primary fundraiser for the year and offers businesses visibility to 140+ teams. In 2019 the Shootout brought in 2.3 million dollars to the City of Durango. Unfortunately, the 2020 Shootout was canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic. We were able to hold the 2021 tournament with 120 teams, and in 2022 we brought in 138 teams.

To date for the Fall 2023-Spring 2024 season DRSC has provided 27 families with scholarships for a total of $16,007. These scholarships help cover club registration fees, uniforms, league and tournament costs. DRSC supplements 58% of every player’s registration fee to support every family in our soccer community.

DRSC, The Community & Service Programs “Go Out And Lead (GOAL)”

•  Donated $40,000 to the construction of the Smith Sports Complex. This, along with letters from our members supported the Cities efforts in getting a GOCO grant.
• Budget of $20k for scholarships (automatic eligibility for players on school lunch program).
• Colorado Soccer Association (CSA) Tournament awarded to Durango Soccer for 2020, 2021 and 2022 which generates income for City.
• Outreach Program – Working with 9R to offer a free after school soccer program, free summer camp for Bayfield students, and supporting Big Brothers & Sisters of SW Sports Buddies program.
• TOPSoccer-Rama – Annual one-day event for adults and children with disabilities.
• Service, Soccer & Socks – Annual club-wide service event partnering with Durango 9R School District helping them get ready for the new school year.
• Individual Team Service Projects – RRDSC teams complete at least one service project a soccer season.

With your financial help, DRSC and the Shootout Tournament, will continue to give every young person in the community an opportunity to play soccer and develop important characteristics that will help them through their young life and beyond.  Sponsor level offerings are included with this letter.

The Durango Shootout will celebrate its 30th year in 2025. First established in 1995, the Durango Shootout has grown to become one of the largest sporting events in Colorado. In 2024 the city of Durango welcomed 156 youth soccer teams from across the western United States. Teams from all over region bring families and friends to enjoy the soccer festival atmosphere while taking a getaway vacation during Spring. With our hotels fully booked and our restaurants packed, the three-day competition brings a strong economic injection into our community.
